Window handles in a variety of styles

Depending on your desired appearance, there a few handle styles that you can choose from. Most windows are fitted with espag locking handles as the norm. The standard design is a thin strip shape that is placed on the side of the window, moving when turned. You can opt for either left-hand and right-hand designs. Not only do they have a simple opening mechanism, but they are also highly secure and rust-resistant.

For a more unique window handle, we also offer pear drop handles, pendant handles, and monkey tail handles. These are ideally suited to more traditional heritage windows but can also add an elegant touch to modern casement windows.

    Trickle vents for replacement windows

You may not even notice that your existing windows feature trickle vents. However, they provide vital ventilation, allowing healthy air to circulate into the room and polluted air to be eliminated from entering. This ensures the air inside of your home is fresh and not contaminated.

Whilst they are not required for new windows, they are legally required if they are replacing windows that already include trickle vents. They are located on the top horizontal window frame and can be designed in an identical colour to the frame.

    Peg Stay

Window restrictors and peg window stays

Providing a useful purpose for both security and safety, window opening restrictors limit the opening of a window. This child-friendly security feature is subtly placed on the interior of the window. There are many designs available, including cabin hooks, concealed restrictor arms, cable restrictors and sash jammers. Based on the way the window opens and specific functionalities, we can advise on the best choice to protect your home.

Peg window stays descend from traditional timber windows but can be easily be fitted into uPVC timber effect windows for the authentic historical appearance. It’s a metal bar that is slotted into the window mechanism and features one or two pins inside so you can choose how wide the opening is.

Sash window furniture in Ipswich, Oxford, Essex and Suffolk

As sliding sash windows boast a unique upwards and downwards sliding opening, their furniture mechanisms vary from a standard window. Therefore, our uPVC sash windows have their own furniture ranges. This includes the following:

    • Sash lift and pulls – a hook that is used to open and close a window. Choose from curved or flat lifts. A lift or pull functionality will depend on the opening mechanism of the window.
    • Sash handles – used in the same way as a sash lift, this is a handle model that’s found on more modern designs.
    • Sash fasteners – this secures both window panes together when closed.
    • Sash pulley – found in the side of the window, the frame slides over the pulley to assist its movement when opened.
    • Sash stop – it has two uses, to lock the window open for ventilation and also to restrict the opening.
    • Sash horns – adding a classical finish, it also prevents the sashes from opening further than necessary and becoming jammed.
    • Sash eyes/ring pulls – an optional extra, they are ring-shaped in design and can be used as an opening system.
